Dining for four in a small room: round or rectangle?
A table for four needs about 9 × 10 ft.
Add 36″ (90 cm) on every side where a chair pulls out. A 42″ round for four needs a room about 9′6″ square and has no corners to bump into; a 30 × 48″ rectangle needs about 8′6″ × 10′ and suits narrow rooms. Short on depth? Put a bench against the wall: bench + table + 36″ pull-out fits in about 7 ft.

Put this to work.
